Medical website design
Probably the first question that should be asked is – is it important that a website design company should be specialists in making medical websites?
The answers depends on your viewpoint, but it can be argued that healthcare is a particular niche in itself.
Stock photography is an excellent example of why this is the case. Us Brits are a little bit different from our cousins across the pond. Our television has a bit more of a ‘documentary edge’ to it, our taste in music a bit more ‘unusual’, and our choice of stock photography often reflects our more reserved. We tend not to take kindly to smiling mouths with perfectly lined teeth – unless we are dentists!
And our website design is a little different too.
Technical issues can also come into play. An example is the longevity of the browser Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) within the healthcare industry. Long after Microsoft chose to discontinue support for it – even setting up an excellent website promoting the end of IE6 – the UK healthcare industry determinedly dug in to retain IE6 in significant proportions. For example – at a time when IE6 was used by less than 2.5% of the UK population, the 15% of the healthcare industry still used it.
