Wardrobes

DERIV: a portable upright

Whilst early wardrobes were chests, there was a time when wardrobes were separate rooms from the bedroom – more like the modern walk-in wardrobe.

By the 17th century wardrobes had become a portable, upright cabinet with space to store clothes. Wardrobes of this period were made of oak.

Modern wardrobes are often fitted to room dimensions and come in many shapes, sizes and finishes.

Today, companies like the innovative and design award winning Austrian furniture company Team7 epitomise high specification wardrobe systems. With a glamourous array of fixtures and fittings – their wardrobes are truly sumptuous.
