Dining Tables

DERIV: TABULA - a board, a plank, or a flat piece

Traditionally, families would only use dining rooms for special occasions and Sundays – other meals would be eaten in the kitchen. Today’s homes are often without an exclusive dining room – with through lounges or American-style bachelor pads becoming popular.

But the concept of a separate dining room is still an aspiration for many families – and is an ideal place to catch up with each other’s news of the day. And there are many glorious examples.

Archaeologists have uncovered what is believed to be Nero’s famous rotating dining room which revolved day and night to imitate the motion of celestial bodies.

Still to this day, what a truly beautiful dining room needs is a beautiful dining table. The Danes, as well as exporting Vikings, are particularly renowned for their furniture prowess. Coming out of a marriage of high architectural innovation and craftsmanship, Danish furniture is world-famous for quality and design. It is an ethos that has spread across parts of Europe – of whom Team7 are an excellent Austrian example.
